24 October 2019 -- Politeknik Brunei this morning successfully organized its 5th Convocation Ceremony at the Chancellor Hall, Universiti Brunei Darussalam. 689 graduates (322 male students and 367 female students) from the 6th intake of the academic year 2016 received their certificates at the ceremony for having successfully completed their Level 5 or Level 4 Diploma programmes. The students had attended a 3-years academic session undertaking various programmes offered by the Politeknik Brunei's School of Business, School of Information Communication and Technology (ICT), School of Science and Engineering, and School of Health Sciences. The Level 5 and Level 4 Diplomas are recognized by the Ministry of Education through the Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council.
The Convocation Ceremony began with the procession of students and the main procession of the Board of Governors, Senate members, main officers and lecturers of Politeknik Brunei followed by the arrival of Yang Mulia Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hjh Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, the Acting Minister for Ministry of Education.
The ceremony followed with the recital of Al-Quran verses (Surah Al-Mu'minun bermula Dari Ayat 51 Hingga Ayat 62) by Yang Mulia Awang Saadon Bin Hj Suhaili, from the 6th intake, Level 5 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. This was in turn followed by the translation by Ustaz Hj Mohd Jaafar Bin Hj Johari, Assistant Head of General Studies Department.
The ceremony continued with the opening remarks by the Director of Politeknik Brunei, Awang Denis Ho Mun Tai as Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Convocation Ceremony. This was then followed with the speech by the Guest of Honour, Acting Minister of Education.
The main highlight of the day was the Convocation Award ceremony presented by the Acting Minister of Education. From the total of 689 graduates, 140 students received their Level 5 Diploma award in Business programmes, 156 in ICT Level 5 Diploma programmes, 281 in Science and Engineering programmes and 112 students received their Level 4 Diploma award in Health Sciences programmes.
The ceremony was also entertained by tausyeh performances.
The ceremony also witnessed with the presentation of: (i) Academic Excellence Awards, (ii) Enrichment Excellence Award and (iii) Innovation Awards and (iV) Best Student Award
The ceremony ended with a Doa Selamat read by Yang Mulia, Pengiran Hj Md Hafizuddin Bin Pengiran Hj Bakar, Pegawai Hal Ehwal Masjid Kg Belimbing Subok, Daerah Brunei Dan Muara.
Among those present at the ceremony were Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry as the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors of Politeknik Brunei, members of PB's Board of Governors, Permanent Secretaries, Vice Chancellors, Rector, Deputy Permanent Secretary, special invited guests, Director General of Education and Head of Departments of the Ministry of Education, sponsors as well as parents, guardians and families of the graduates.
